Statement of Purpose

My reflective monochromes register the body and contingent forms of brutality. Combining painting, sculpture, and performance,  my work uses violence as a form of social dishonor. I burn, smash, break, beat and shoot laminated glass panels — positioning the fragmented reflection of the viewer behind a hail of bullets.  This gratuitous violence becomes an index for the afterlives of slavery, if not the crisis of Western democracy.
